Water Over Wire

Here’s another technology post that brings you an industry first. Water Over Wire or WOW technology was unveiled at KBIS in Orlando by Pfister, a division of Spectrum Brands Holdings.

Pfister Voice Activated Faucet | KitchAnn Style

Pfister’s three new faucet technologies allow for virtually limitless functionality consumers previously could only imagin.

The concept of a handle-less faucet was introduced as well as a built-in LED task light concept designed to illuminate the work space. The final concept, the Auris faucet is the first in the industry to use voice control to activate features such as turning on and off hot, warm or cold water, delivering precise amounts of water, providing on demand filtered or boiling water, and automatically filling a sink all without the use of your hands.

“Why should a faucet be limited to simply turning on and off, and why can’t we ask it to do more?” said Jamie Dorman, group marketing manager for Pfister, Spectrum Brands, Inc. – Hardware and Home Improvement Division. “Raising these questions led to the development of the WOW design concepts: a handle-free faucet, a built-in LED task light concept designed to illuminate the workspace, and the Auris faucet, which is the first in the industry to use voice control to activate features such as turning on and off water, electronic measuring cup, and dispensing instant boiling water all in one faucet.”

I believe the voice activated faucet will make using a kitchen much easier for home owners with disabilities. A blind person will be able to order a half cup of filtered water without having to put their fingers in the cup.

XTRACT FILTRATION SOLUTIONS

Pfister partnered with GE to create their filtered faucets. The Xtract filtration System uses GE 2X High Flow Filtration technology to improve the quality and safety of drinking water in homes by reducing contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, chlorine, lead and cysts.

Pfister faucets with Xtract technology deliver great-tasting filtered water and regular tap water from a single faucet, 2X faster than typical water filter products. These faucets look like ordinary kitchen faucets, but when you press the lever back you get filtered water instead of regular tap water.

Xtract technology is currently available on the Clarify and Lita models. Xtract is DIY friendly and can be installed by you in 30 minutes.
